Rev. Donald L. Phillips III, Pastor

Greetings Women’s Missionary Society Members,

The women of the Gertrude Hawkins Women’s Missionary Society of Lewis Chapel AME Church would like to cordially invite you to attend our Annual Prayer Brunch. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11 AM. The brunch will be located at New Hope Worship Center (13600 28 ½ Mile Rd., Albion, MI 49224).

The theme for this year’s annual brunch is “Garden of Prayer.” We are requesting that a representative of your local WMS participate in our program by offering a prayer. We would be honored to have representation of women from churches across the area and conference. If you are willing to participate in this way, please contact Sis. Teleah Phillips (517) 629-3408 for further information.

The intention of our brunch is to unite as believers in prayer concerning the needs of God’s body and for the will of God to be accomplished in this land. Our event will have a prayer focus, but will also incorporate praise and worship throughout the program. Our prayer brunch is an open event and all persons are welcome, so please bring your missionary sisters and brothers, your families and your friends. We are asking for donations of $10/adult and $5/youth (under age 10).

We pray that we will be blessed by your presence, and fellowship with us on March, 13, 2010. God’s richest blesses and grace to you.

Sincerely,

Sis. Teleah Phillips

Arbor Day Tree Planting

I would just like to thank Mrs. Elverta Weatherford, for working so hard in bring the tree planting together on April 24, 2009 for Arbor Day. Mrs. Weatherford has been a long time member of the Gertrude Hawkins WMS for many years. In fact Mrs. Weatherford Mother was the founder of The Women' Missionary Society at Lewis Chapel AME Church . Mrs. Weatherford is a very active 91 year old member and we Love her very much.

I think that I shell never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
UponWhose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately liver with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make tree.- Joyce Kilmer
