Gertrude Hawkins WMS Working to Help Others

These Past months individual missionaries at Lewis Chapel AME Church have been taking on New and inspiriting ministries.

Sister Willine Snyder is using her time and talents working with a program at the Albion Public Library to help people study to receive their GED. Mrs. Snyder is all about helping people to grow and be successful .

Sister Emma Howard is going into Albion Elementary Schools reading to Children. Sister Howard is using her talents to help the young children in Albion grow.

Sister Carrie Anderson is working with people who are Diabetic. Sister Anderson used her time and talents to start a Diabetic Center , to help people understand more about this sickness. She have meeting the 3rd Monday of the month at 5:00pm at the Folks Center in Albion. Sister Anderson is all about taking care of our health.

Sister Tiffany Smiley has been working passing out food to people in need at AIM on Fridays for five months . Sister Smiley is a very persistent person she love helping others.

Sister Ira Byrd have been working in a program called KCLS (Kids Cardiac Life Support).
This program teach children how to call 911 if someone in their home is sick. This a good thing.

The YPD At Lewis chapel AME Church are on the move .
They have completed two Ministries
"The Shoe Box Ministry"
(giving shoe boxies fill with toys and needy things to boys and girls)
And
"The Hat and Glove Ministry"
(giving hats and gloves to the schools in Albion to make sure all the children keep warm)

We are trying to get a count for the Executive Board Meeting on Friday, February 27, 2009 - Saturday, February 28, 2009 in Lansing. Barbara Chester (conference registrar) will not issue registration forms in advance but will register on site. However, for planning purposes, please contact your Area Chairperson immediately and let her know if you plan to attend.

Some of you may have encountered a slight glitch in making reservations for the hotel for the Executive Board Meeting Feb. 27 and 28 in Lansing , MI . 1st VP Ruby Frazier has worked out all of the kinks and here it is.
The deadline has been extended beyond 5 PM today so we have some time. Miss Dee will send out a more detailed e-mail. This is just to address the immediate glitch with the hotel.

Global Leadership Institute
The 1st Sons of Success (S.O.S) and Daughters of Destiny (D.O.D.) Global Leadership Institute for the Bryant Team will take place April 16th-19th, 2009, at Camp Baber. The core purpose of S.O.S. and D.O.D. is to build and maintain self-esteem within our young people, promote healthy relationships, enrich the lives of African-American youth and empower them to develop their God-given potential, and speak purpose into the lives. The ages of participants of S.O.S. and D.O.D. are 11-17. We need the following commitment from each conference:

The Bryants have selected a very powerful and anointed staff, so this experience will be successful. The Rites of Passage will culminate at our Christian Education Congress in July 2009. It is mandatory that individuals are present at the Global Leadership Institute to participate in the culmination activities at the Christian Education Congress.TheRegistration is $125.00 per candidate and will cover all meals, lodging, and workshop materials.
